University of North Carolina Professor Calls for People to 'Blow Up Republicans'

By Cassandra Fairbanks

A University of North Carolina Wilmington professor is facing backlash after he appeared to call for violence against Republicans.

Dan Johnson, who is a professor in the school of health and applied human sciences, posted “blow up Republicans” on May 17.

While he has since deleted the post, Campus Reform had obtained a screenshot.

Two days later, on May 19, the professor then posted that it was “Time for my summer break from Facebook. The professor does not appear to have apologized for the post.

Andrea Monroe Weaver, the interim communications officer for UNCW, told Campus Reform that “the university was made aware of the post and has appropriately addressed it.” The university confirmed that Johnson will still be teaching there this fall.

Some students are concerned about his aggressive disdain for Republicans.

“Putting away any personal political preference aside, I think this matter should be addressed and dealt in the same manner that it would be if the word ‘Republican’ was replaced with any other word,” Haylie Davis, a student of Johnson’s said. “He not only represents a major university in the state of North Carolina, but he also represents a program of the university that prides itself in inclusivity. That statement is not something that represents an inclusive and accepting environment. In his position, political preference should not be expressed in such an aggressive manner that lacks the ’empathy’ that is expected and valued in today’s society and on college campuses.”

Timcast.com has reached out to Johnson for comment and will update this post if one is provided.

I grew up a few blocks from UNCW. I’m not surprised at all. Wilmington has always been a hateful/racists place all the way back to to the coup d’état of 1898 where white residents/KKK lynched the newly elected black city council members. Wilmington is a nice place to visit so long as you don’t get wrapped up in it’s toxic politics.

    I was surprised it wasn’t*

  4. Gizmo says:

I was surprised it was a prof at chapel hill or Asheville. I thought we had pretty decently quarantined the crazy college shit to a few spots in NC

One less place to consider sending my kids this fall. Looking like NC State for kid 2 of 5.

His email has been shut down but his phone number is still working. 910-962-7559. I left him a message asking him if that’s the world he wants his children growing up in? One where we kill each other for our political beliefs?

It’s pretty nice to hear how the student that was questioned using some of the leftist tactics and buzzwords. Living in NC, I find it “odd” that I haven’t heard of this until now…..

  8. ArmyGal says:

No offense, but it would be nice if you took this up with the staff via email instead of posting it in every thread.

  9. Locke-n-Paine says:

Outstanding statement from the student. This is the kind of normal reaction people 90% if people would’ve had back when the world was reasonable. Now I bet 70-80% think it but don’t say anything for fear of feeling conspicuous. They’ve bullied us into beating ourselves.

The tolerant and inclusive Left strikes again!

  11. Juptonstone says:

Yes.. and if he was a republican talking about anyone other than republicans, at the very least, he would have been doxxed as well and the University would have found that it had no control over the doxing, but was firing him for outrageous statements of violence against others, potentially students and other faculty.

  12. VernonRedmon says:

Boycott University of North Carolina, all Republican teachers and student body should file harassment charges and resign and drop out. Not only this teacher but the University should publicly apologize and should be forced to donate a very large amount to the Republican party to make up for this disgraceful comment.

  13. DanielKF says:

If this was a Republican he would have already been fired or forced to resign.

  14. Dr.ZobonZogon100011 says:

Hey, that could of meant anything. Maybe he was talking about inflatable Republicans an offshoot of the popular Blow up Doll…. Right… its possible.

I’ve honestly felt like we have been under “attack” from within over a long period of time, instead of 9/11 style. Almost like the long con. I could be wrong here, but if the Biden Admin is so concerned about “domestic terrorism”, How is it that 10 years ago this threat would have been taken very seriously as an actual threat to the public. But now, it’s like they don’t care, it just depends on who the threat is directed towards. I don’t understand how the current President who is breaking his oath to protect us from foreign enemies and domestic can remain in power as he is without the rest of the government (at least on the dem side/leftist whatever you want to call them), being compromised?

  16. Devilsgun says:

    What a chump.

Like nearly every other college professor I’ve ever encountered, except maybe just a tad more of an ‘explosive’ personality

  17. Gollond says:

Thank you Cassandra, I hadn’t heard about this until you covered it!

  18. PatrioticRealist says:

Have students post “blow up leftist professors” and see if i the meets the same level of disinterest.

  19. Feddy_Von_Wigglestein says:

No more tolerance for leftists. It’s war. Banish him from the profession, cancel him. Fuck this shit.

This is really good reporting, it would be great if Tim pool kept the promises he made in the launch video of the record breaking SCNR / Subverse wefunder and delivered this kind of reporting there as well. Maybe then all those investors wouldn’t feel like they were lied to.
