Former president Donald Trump joked about Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ presidential campaign announcement in a series of social media posts.
DeSantis officially entered the 2024 presidential race on Wednesday after months of speculation.
Twitter owner Elon Musk was scheduled to host a Twitter Space on the platform at 6 p.m. EST with the Florida Governor as he announced, though the event experienced technical difficulty delaying the announcement for about thirty minutes.
“I’m running for president to lead our Great American Comeback,” the Florida Governor said.
Shortly after DeSantis’ announcement, Trump shared a video featuring the former president’s announcement to seek re-election at his home at Mar-a-Lago in Florida. “God Bless The U.S.A.” by Lee Greenwood plays in the background before the video cuts to an image of DeSantis and Musk’s Twitter Space reading “Preparing to launch…” as reverb is heard echoing.

The video continues cutting back and forth between Trump as he takes the stage at Mar-a-Lago and Musk and DeSantis’ Twitter Space as technical difficulties persist.
A second video shared by Trump features a rocket labeled “Ron! 2024” falling over instead of launching.

“Wow! The DeSanctus TWITTER launch is a DISASTER!” Trump wrote to Truth Social. “His whole campaign will be a disaster. WATCH!”
“Tim Scott’s Presidential launch, even with the broken microphone (don’t pay the contractor, Tim!), was by far the best Presidential launch of the week,” the former president wrote in a separate post referencing the South Carolina Senator. “Robs was a catastrophe!”
“Is the DeSantis launch FATAL? Yes!” Trump continued.
A third video posted by Trump features an Artificial Intelligence-created Twitter Space hosted by Musk featuring speakers DeSantis along with Hungarian-American businessman George Soros, World Economic Forum founder Klaus Schwab, Dick Cheney, Adolph Hitler, “The Devil,” and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
The group talks over each other before the FBI asks how they’re going to take out Trump. Then, Musk notes the Twitter Space is a public conversation.
The FBI leaves the Twitter Space as the group continues talking over each other before Trump enters the space saying, “Hold your horses, Elon. The real president is gonna say a few words.”
Trump continues roasting the panel before saying “Ron DeSanctimonious can kiss my big beautiful 2024 presidential a–.”

He adds: “Trump 2024, baby. Let’s go.”

“I know Ron. The way he handled his announcement, he will handle the Country!” the former president said of DeSantis in another Truth Social post.
