A new report from the New York Post is shedding more light on the impact of Mayor Bill de Blasio’s “Key to NYC” program, claiming 11 out of 15 restaurants in Manhattan are not enforcing the mandate.
“Most of the 15 Manhattan restaurants visited by undercover sleuths this week were not enforcing Mayor Bill de Blasio’s city-wide COVID-19 vaccine mandate for people dining inside, according to a new investigation,” reports the Post.
“Only four of the 15 restaurants asked reporters for ID along with proof of vaccination before seating them inside, according to a segment from Inside Edition,” adds the newspaper.
“I’m shocked right now, not gonna lie. I’m shocked because I know that I’ve definitely been asking everyone,” said the manager of one Upper East Side eatery after learning his staff failed to ask for proof of vaccination.
Failure to enforce the vaccine passport program, which launched on Sept. 13, could result in penalties that range between $1,000 to $2,000 for multiple violations. Thus far, the Mayor’s office has yet to report any official rule-breakers.
“If you want to participate in our society fully, you’ve got to get vaccinated. It’s time,” de Blasio has said of his program.
