Michelle Obama 'Couldn't Stand' Husband For A Decade

'I Would Take 10 Bad Years Over 30 — It’s Just How You Look At It'

In an exclusive interview with Revolt TV, former First Lady Michelle Obama said she couldn’t stand her husband, former President Barack Obama, for 10 years.

“People think I’m being catty for saying this: it’s like, there were 10 years where I couldn’t stand my husband,” said the former First Lady. “And guess when it happened? When those kids were little.”

“[They] have demands. They don’t talk. They’re poor communicators. They cry all the time. They’re irrational. They’re needy. And you love them more than anything. And so you can’t blame them. So you turn that ire on each other.”

“For 10 years while we’re trying to build our careers and worrying about school and who’s doing what and what, I was like, ‘Argh, this isn’t even!'” she said. “And guess what? Marriage isn’t 50/50, ever. Ever. There are times I’m 70, he’s 30. There are times he’s 60, 40. But guess what? Ten years. We’ve been married 30. I would take 10 bad years over 30 — it’s just how you look at it. People give up — ‘Five years; I can’t take it.'”

Obama said she could have been mad at her husband but reiterated she believed he was a “kind, smart person.”

The former First Lady previously discussed her experience being the first black family in the White House by saying she believed Americans were racist because she was uncomfortable wearing braids.

“As black women, we deal with it, the whole thing about do you show up with your natural hair,” Obama said during an event with Ellen DeGeneres this week. “As first lady, I did not wear braids. Being the first … yeah, we had to ease up on the people. Cause I thought about it. I was like, it would be easier. Nope, nope. They’re not ready.”

“Let me keep my hair straight,” the former First Lady said. “Let’s get health care passed.”

Former President Barack Obama was originally elected as an Illinois Senator in 2005. Obama announced his bid for Presidency in February 2007 and ultimately secured the Democratic candidacy after defeating former First Lady Hillary Clinton. Obama further proved successful in the 2008 Presidential Election defeating Republican Arizona Senator John McCain.

Obama was reelected for a second Presidential term in 2012 after defeating Republican Utah Senator Mitt Romney.
