Majority of Respondents in TPUSA Straw Poll Want Harmeet Dhillon to Replace Ronna McDaniel Leading the RNC

The majority of respondents to a TPUSA straw poll conducted at the organization’s America Fest convention over the weekend said that they would like to see lawyer Harmeet Dhillon replace Ronna McDaniel as party chair.

The Republican National Committee will select its chair in a vote next month.

A whopping 78.4 percent of respondents said they disapproved of Ronna Romney McDaniel’s leadership.

Turning Point Action’s leadership has endorsed Dhillon in her challenge of McDaniel, but MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell is also running.

Dhillon is a fierce defender of the First Amendment, CEO of the Center for American Liberty, and co-chair of the Republican National Lawyers Association.

According to a report from Fox News, 57.6 percent voted in favor of Dhillon taking over, 31 percent voted for Lindell, and just 1.7 percent voted for McDaniel. The additional 9.7 percent said they are “unsure” or have “no opinion.”

The poll of 1,150 participants was conducted on December 19.

Despite the apparent lack of support among grassroots conservatives, there are more than 100 RNC committee members who have vowed to support McDaniel. All she needs to win is a simple majority of the 168 voting members.

“Just like the RNC, Chairwoman McDaniel’s decision to run for re-election was member driven. Members of the 168 rallied around the Chairwoman because of her unprecedented investments in the grassroots, election integrity, and minority communities, and for taking on Big Tech and the biased Commission on Presidential Debates,” Emma Vaughn, spokesperson from Ronna McDaniel’s re-elect told Fox News.

Vaughn added that “support for the Chairwoman has only grown since her announcement and she looks forward to speaking with each and every member to discuss how the party can continue building upon our investments and make the necessary improvements to compete and win in 2024.”

If McDaniel wins, it will be her fourth two-year term as RNC chair.
