The Federal Bureau of Investigations has visited the University of Delaware, seeking the trail of classified documents left by President Joe Biden, according to a report about the previously undisclosed audit.
The investigation, which led the bureau to two caches of documents Biden bequeathed to the university, did not uncover additional classified material, according to a source who spoke to CNN:
Investigators retrieved materials from two university locations on two different days. The material did not appear to have classified markings, according to the source, but they are now being reviewed by the FBI.
They examined two separate batches of documents during the searches: an archive of materials from Biden’s time in the US Senate and documents that Biden sent to the university in recent years.
The more than 1,850 boxes of records have not been open to the public since the collection arrived at the university in 2012, the website states.
Investigators have reviewed Biden’s handling of classified materials since November, when members of the president’s legal team first uncovered documents labeled classified inside his office at the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement. The FBI has since conducted searches at Biden’s two Delaware homes, where documents were again uncovered at his Wilmington residence.
Yesterday, former President Donald Trump commented on the boxes of documents sent to the university in a post on the TruthSocial network. “[They] should be checking Biden’s unsecured classified docs instead,” the former president posted. “How about the 1,850 Boxes sent to Delaware. That’s the mother load! Or separately, how about revealing who spied on my campaign, stuffed the ballot boxes, or paid off the FBI? That’s what people want to hear!”
Trump took issue with the polite nature of the searches conducted at Biden’s home, characterizing his own experience as a raid.
According to CNN, Biden’s legal team declined to comment and referred the news organization to the Justice Department, which also refused to comment on the investigation.
