Dr. Anthony Fauci Says Biden Administration Can’t ‘Eradicate’ COVID-19

Doctor Anthony Fauci has asserted that it is  essentially impossible for the Biden administration to “eradicate” COVID-19 — despite the President’s repeated pledge to “shut down the virus.”

“So, if we’re going to look ahead at what happens when this peaks and it ultimately goes down — as I’ve said on previous pressers here from the White House: that we’re not going to eradicate this; we’ve only done that with smallpox,” Fauci said on Wednesday.

“[That] only happens with massive vaccination programs like we did with measles and with vaccines,” he added.

Fauci’s comments question the fundamental campaign promise made by then-candidate Biden in the fall of 2020.

“I’m not going to shut down the economy, I’m going to shut down the virus,” Joe Biden said during a 2020 campaign event.

According to data from the CDC and Johns Hopkins University, 62.5 million Americans have contracted COVID since the outbreak began in the winter of 2020, resulting in 840,000 fatalities.

There are approximately 800,000 new cases of COVID each day in the United States. The actual number could be much higher as many people test positive through take home kits and don’t disclose the infection to local health officials.
