Congressman James Comer Requests Information from Secret Service About Biden's Delaware Visitors

President Joe Biden has spent 164 days at his Wilmington home while in office

The Secret Service must reveal who President Joe Biden visits when he is not at the White House as part of a House Committee Investigation into classified documents found at multiple private properties connected to the Biden family.

The chair of the House Oversight and Accountability Committee, Congressman James Comer of Kentucky, has requested the Secret Service turn over visitor logs for Biden’s Wilmington home by Feb. 6.

In a letter addressed to Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle, Comer said the “White House’s lack of transparency regarding President Biden’s residential visitor logs” obligated the committee to get the logs from the Secret Service.

“The U.S. Secret Service (Secret Service) protected President Biden during the time he stored these classified materials at his Wilmington residence,” wrote Comer. “[T]he Committee seeks information from the Secret Service regarding who had access to his home since serving as Vice President.”

Comer has requested all “documents and communications related to visitor information at President Biden’s Wilmington, Delaware home” between Jan. 20, 2017 to the current day.

Biden has spent 164 days at his Wilmington home – over 52 trips – since he took office in January 2021.

Aides to Biden found six classified documents in the Wilmington house and garage. The property was searched by the Federal Bureau of Investigation on Jan. 20 for 13 hours.

In response to a Freedom of Information Act request filed by The New York Post in April, the Secret Service said it did not keep visitor logs for Biden’s two Delaware residences in Wilmington and Rehoboth Beach. The agency said the practice was in part to protect the privacy of his grandchildren who have access to the homes.

The Secret Service reversed its position after classified documents were discovered in homes owned by Biden. On Jan. 16, Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi denied that the agency “independently” kept its own visitor logs “because it’s a private residence.”

Guglielmi then said on Jan. 19 that “the Secret Service does generate law enforcement and criminal justice information records for various individuals who may come into contact with Secret Service protected sites,” per The New York Post

A special counsel – former U.S. attorney Robert Hur – has been appointed by Attorney General Merrick Garland to investigate if “any person or entity” violated the law in connection to the discovered documents, per Fox News

Biden has been absent from the White House for most weekends in his presidency. He spent at least 13 weekends at Camp David in 2021 and at least 32 days at Camp David in 2022.

Biden spent last weekend in Delaware, traveling from the White House to his Rehoboth Beach home on Jan. 20 and returning on Jan. 23. The president has spent every weekend of 2023 in Delaware.
