Colorado Congresswoman Lauren Boebert Wins Republican Primary

The 35-year-old is currently serving her first term in office

Representative Lauren Boebert won her Colorado primary and will seek a second term in office.

Boebert is frequently called a firebrand and has been vocal in her support of President Donald Trump.

“I’m thrilled the voters showed their confidence in me to continue being their Representative,” Boebert said on Twitter. “Hard-working Americans recognize now is not the time to go along to get along, it’s time to stand up and fight for our American way of life. That is exactly what I will continue to do.”

The 35-year-old represents Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District. Boebert was first elected to congress in 2020 after securing over 51% of the vote.

This year, she outperformed state Representative Don Coram, a rancher and hemp farmer who had denounced Boebeert’s alleged extremism during his campaign. The race was called just after 9:30 P.M. on June 28 after the restaurant owner received over 65% – or more than 80,000 – of the votes.

Coram had argued that the incumbent’s fealty to Trump has meant neglect of her sprawling territory’s all-important agriculture issues as she seeks social and conservative media celebrity,” reports PBS News. He unsuccessfully wagered that “voters alienated by Boebert’s provocations will choose someone more in the tradition of centrists that have played well in the area, including five-term Republican Rep. Scott Tipton, who lost to Boebert in an upset last cycle.”

The first-term congresswoman has become known for what NBC News calls her “inflammatory remarks” and unconventional actions.

“She has positioned herself as one of the most far-right members of Congress — winning herself national attention in the process,” the outlet stated. “Earlier this year, Boebert and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene … heckled President Joe Biden at various points of his State of the Union address.”

Boebert also made headlines for sporting a red one-shoulder dress with the message “Let’s Go Brandon” across the back at an event with Trump in November of 20121. The dress was a parody of the “Tax The Rich” dress New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez wore to the Met Gala in September of 2021.

The congresswoman has been a vocal supporter of the Second Amendment and has opposed legislation aimed at regulating firearms. Boebert is currently leading a legislative push to have fentanyl classified as a weapon of mass destruction due to the number of fatalities linked to the synthetic opioid.

“I’m proud to have brought home 100% conservative voting records to each and every one of you,” she told supporters at a barbecue in June, per The Guardian. “From gun rights, to immigration, to border security, to life.”

Boebert is being challenged by Democrat Adam Frisch of Aspen in the November election.
