The Daily Wire’s Michael Knowles was suspended from Twitter for posting a Bible verse on Tuesday night.
Knowles shared Romans 12:19, which reads: “Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”
“I’ve been suspended from [Twitter] for quoting the Bible. Specifically, I quoted a verse urging people not to take vengeance,” Knowles said in an Instagram post shortly after his suspension.
“Michael Knowles was suspended for posting a Bible verse,” wrote fellow Daily Wire host Matt Walsh in a late Tuesday post in which he tagged Twitter owner Elon Musk. “I assume this was a mistake. Can we get his account restored asap?”

Knowles previously mentioned a separate Bible verse regarding vengeance during Monday’s episode of The Michael Knowles Show in reference to the “Trans Day of Vengeance.” The event, which is reportedly scheduled for Apr. 1 outside the Supreme Court in Washington D.C., is being promoted by Our Rights DC.
“The curious timing of this attack is that it coincides within a few days of a planned national event called the Trans Day of Vengeance,” Knowles said during Monday’s episode, noting some activists have reportedly suggested moving the event to Daily Wire’s headquarters in Nashville. “Vengeance is when you personally take retribution for a personal sleight — perceived or otherwise.”
The Daily Wire host referenced a proverb suggesting those seeking justice should dig two graves before citing Deuteronomy 32:35 which reads similar to Romans 12:19.
“For quoting the Bible saying ‘do not avenge yourselves,’ I have been suspended for violating Twitter’s rules against violent speech because up is down, men are women, and peaceful speech — speech urging peace — is not considered violent,” Knowles said during today’s episode of his podcast.
Flyers advertising “Trans Day of Vengeance” began circulating on Twitter, though the platform appears to be flagging the image for removal following Monday’s shooting at The Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee. Our Rights DC’s Twitter account has since been locked.
Other accounts were suspended from Twitter following Monday’s shooting, including Sean Davis, CEO of The Federalist, who reported on the “Trans Day of Vengeance.”
“This is deliberate censorship and gaslighting designed to memory-hole the FACT that the Nashville shooter targeted and murdered Christian children and teachers just days ahead of a scheduled ‘Trans Day of Vengeance,’” Davis said in a statement posted on The Federalist’s Twitter account. “Twitter is lying about the facts and defaming those of us who reported on them.”
“We do not support tweets that incite violence irrespective of who posts them,” wrote Twitter’s head of trust and safety Ella Irwin in a statement on the platform. “‘Vengeance’ does not imply peaceful protest.”
