Former president Donald Trump said he would deliver remarks from his home at Mar-a-Lago in Florida following his arraignment in Manhattan this afternoon.
President Trump was arraigned following a Manhattan grand jury’s decision to indict the former president on an alleged “hush money” settlement with adult film actress Stormy Daniels. According to the claim, Daniels and Trump had a sexual encounter in 2006 leading to the alleged “hush money” settlement a decade later during the former president’s 2016 campaign.
In a Tuesday evening Truth Social post, the former president commented on New York Police Department’s (NYPD) presence outside the Manhattan courthouse.
“Alvin Bragg shut down New York City, brought in 38,000 NYPD officers, and will spend an estimated $200,000,000 of NYC funds, for a totally legal $130,000 NDA,” Trump said Tuesday evening. “On top of all that, the 9th Circuit Court just awarded me $122,000 — over the $500,000 already awarded, from Stormy “Horseface” Daniels!”
Shortly after the former president’s post, Trump announced he would deliver remarks on the arraignment from Mar-a-Lago at 8:15 p.m. tonight.
“Just lifted off for Palm Beach, Florida. Will be delivering remarks tonight at Mar-a-Lago at 8:15 P.M., EASTERN,” the former president continued in a separate post. “The hearing was shocking to many in that they had no ‘surprises,’ and therefore, no case. Virtually every legal pundit has said that there is no case here.”
“There was nothing done illegally!”
In another Truth Social post, the former president shared a video of former Deputy Assistant Attorney General John Yoo suggesting there was a “big hole” in Trump’s case.
“There’s a big hole in this case, in this indictment, and the statement of facts released with it do nothing to fill that hole,” said Yoo.
Early Tuesday, New York City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams released a statement regarding Trump’s indictment announcing the city was “bracing” for protest.
“With the City bracing for possible protests following the indictment of former President Donald Trump by a Manhattan grand jury and his arrival in NYC today ahead of tomorrow’s arraignment, I want to assure all of you that your safety and security remain my and this Council’s top priority,” Speaker Adams said in an email obtained by The Post Millennial.
The City Council Speaker’s statement echoed New York City Mayor Eric Adams’ Monday statement telling Trump supporters to “control yourselves.”
“There may be some rabble rousers thinking about coming to our city tomorrow, Adams said during a press conference. “Our message is clear and simple: control yourselves.”
He added: “New York is our home, not a playground for your misplaced anger. We are the safest largest city in America because we respect the rule of law in New York City.”
“As always, we will not allow violence or vandalism of any kind, and if anyone is caught participating in any act of violence they will be arrested and held accountable no matter who you are.”
Trump is the first former president to face criminal charges after office.
