Sunny Hostin Criticizes Mike Pence Interview, Claims Republicans Want To Raise Voting Age

'When you look at the youth voter turnout in the 2022 Midterms they delivered Key Wins For The Democrats'

On a Monday episode of The View, host Sunny Hostin said former Vice President Mike Pence’s foot tapping seemed “like a robot” and claimed Republicans want to raise voting age to 28.

Hostin’s comments were in reference to Pence’s first network interview since the Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021. The interviewer, David Muir, asked the former Vice President to comment on former President Trump’s tweet suggesting Pence “didn’t have the courage” to overturn election results.

“It angered me,” responded Pence who tapped his foot and recounted telling his daughter at the time, “it doesn’t take courage to break the law, it takes courage to uphold the law.”

“The President’s words were reckless,” Pence continued. “It’s clear he decided to be part of the problem.”

“All I kept on looking at was Mike Pence’s right foot,” Hostin said of Pence’s foot tapping. The View host made a motion with her hand appearing to mock the former Vice President, saying, “he was just tapping it — oh yeah … he seemed like a robot to me.”

Hostin echoed Pence’s sentiment of upholding the law as courageous though criticized the former Vice President for appearing to hold his interview in promotion of his new book So Help Me God claiming he made “three to four million dollars” writing.

“So for me [he’s] not the savior of the GOP,” Hostin continued, noting co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin previously served as Pence’s Press Secretary. “The voters made it loud and clear that the first thing that was important was that democracy was on the ballot and the second thing that was important was women’s rights to health care, and that’s it.”

Griffin noted she was “glad that [Pence] was coming out” against overturning election results, suggesting she could finally “turn the page on Donald Trump.” Fellow co-host Ana Navarro opined that Pence’s comments were “a dollar short and a day late,” suggesting Pence was an accomplice to Trump throughout his Presidency.

Hostin transitioned towards last week’s midterm saying “young voters saved this country.”

“When you look at the youth voter turnout in the 2022 midterms, they delivered key wins for the Democrats,” Hostin continued. “Which, by the way, the Republicans want to raise the voting to age 28.”

Younger voters were the only voting bloc by age to overwhelmingly vote for Democrats, Hostin added.

Last week’s midterm election was the second-highest youth turnout in thirty years: 30% of voters between 18 and 29 participated, according to the Center for Information and Research on Civic Learning and Engagements (CIRCLE) at Tufts University.
