Republican House Oversight Committee Opens Investigation On President Biden

The Committee Will Evaluate Whether Biden Is 'A President Who Is Compromised Or Swayed By Foreign Dollars And Influence'

House Republicans announced efforts to investigate President Biden’s involvement over alleged corruption including human trafficking and money laundering during the 118th Congress in January.

Kentucky representative James Comer stressed the investigation will focus on Joe Biden’s involvement with his family’s international business deals. The committee will reportedly request documents from the Biden administration and Biden family associates.

“We are releasing a report today that details what we’ve uncovered,” said Comer. “We are also sending letters to the Biden administration officials and Biden family associates renewing our requests of voluntary production of documents relevant to this investigation.”

He added: “This is an investigation of Joe Biden, the President of the United States, and why he lied to the American people about his knowledge and participation in his family’s international business schemes.”

“National security interest require the committee conduct investigation, and we will pursue all avenues. Avenues that have long been ignored,” Comer said. “Committee Republicans have uncovered evidence of federal crimes committed by and to the benefit of members of the President’s family.”

Comer continued:

These include conspiracy of Defrauding the United States, wire fraud, conspiracy to commit wire fraud, violation of the Foreign Agent’s Registration Act, violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, Violations of the Trafficking Victims Protection Act, tax evasion, money laundering, and conspiracy to commit money laundering. The Biden family’s business dealings implicate a wide range of criminality from human trafficking to potential violations of the constitution. In the 118th Congress this committee will evaluate the status of Joe Biden’s relationship with his family’s foreign partners and whether he is a President who is compromised or swayed by foreign dollars and influence. I want to be clear, this is an investigation of Joe Biden and that’s where this committee will focus in this next congress.

Critics of Biden have long speculated the President has been involved in corruption, citing his involvement with son Hunter Biden’s business dealing during his time as Vice President in the Obama administration. Suspicions grew after the contents of Hunter Biden’s laptop were highlighted by the New York Post in October 2020 prior to the Presidential Election.

According to emails obtained by the Post, Hunter Biden introduced his father to a top executive at Ukrainian energy firm Burisma less than a year before the elder Biden allegedly pressured Ukrainian officials to fire Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin for investigating the company.

“I looked at them and said: I’m leaving in six hours. If the prosecutor is not fired, you’re not getting the money,” Biden told the Council on Foreign Relations in 2018 in a surfaced video. “Well, son of a bitch. He got fired.”

President Biden denied the allegation, claiming he had “never spoken to [his] son about his overseas business dealings.” Along with emails discovered on the laptop were videos of the Vice President’s son smoking crack cocaine while engaging in sexual activity with an unidentified woman along with other sexually explicit images.
