A Los Angeles attorney has been suspended for “misgendering” and “deadnaming” a convicted child molester who identifies as a transgender woman.
Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon suspended Shea Sanna, the lead prosecutor of 26-year-old convicted child molester James Tubbs, who now goes by Hannah.
Sanna was reportedly suspended for five days without pay.
Tubbs is currently accused of beating a man to death with a rock in a Kern County forest.
The lead prosecutor alleged Tubbs has attempted to use their transgender identity to “game” the justice system which led to Gascon’s decision to suspend the attorney, per Fox News.
“I was suspended for speaking out against the Gascón Administration,” Saana wrote. “Misgendering Tubbs while informing them that they were being played is just their excuse for the suspension.”

Fox News National Correspondent Bill Melugin noted Tubbs was referred to as James in 2022 Kern County jail records, appearing to corroborate Sanna’s claim.
Sanna, who has previously been critical of Gascon and former advisor Alisa Blair regarding her handling of a separate case, received a complaint filed by the former advisor.
“She did it in retaliation,” the lead prosecutor told Fox News Digital.
Part of it, the reason why I [was] suspended, is because I called out Tubbs to the administration and said I have recordings of him making up the name, gaming the system, joking about it and the date that it was made up. And I had reports where he’s referring to himself as a “grown ass man.” It wasn’t like I was going around being transphobic or malicious — I brought it to their attention that they have a convicted child rapist trying to get himself into a juvenile facility as a woman, and he rapes little girls. … Does anybody see a problem with that?
Tubbs reportedly began identifying as a transgender woman following Tubbs’ 2014 arrest in connection with a child molestation case in which the convicted child molester assaulted a 10-year-old girl in a Denny’s bathroom in California.
The convicted child molester reportedly commented on their use of a transgender identity in phone calls to family members, the outlet reported.
“So now they’re going to put me with other trannies that have seen their cases like mine or with one tranny like me that has a case like mine,” the convicted child molester told their father in a phone call while detained. “So when you come to court, make sure you address me as her.”
“I’ve also heard that my attacker goes by she/them pronouns now,” Tubbs’ 2014 victim, who is now an adult, told Fox News. “I see it also unfair to try him as a woman as well, seeing how he clearly didn’t act like one on January 1st of 2014.”
Tubbs was also accused of sexually molesting a four-year-old girl in a California library in 2013 while the victim’s mother browsed books “just a few aisles over,” the outlet reported.
