Indiana Town Cancels Drag Show for Kids After it Was Shared By Libs of Tik Tok

Jasper, Indiana, has canceled its “Family Friendly Drag Show” after it was called out by the popular Twitter account Libs of TikTok.

The June 24 event, organized by Dubois County Pride, urged attendees to bring cash for tips because “drag is not cheap.”

On Wednesday, the organization announced that they were cancelling the event.

“We regretfully announce that due to safety and security concerns, the family-friendly drag performance planned for Pride in the Park has been cancelled. This decision was jointly made by the City of Jasper, ONE- Dubois County, and the Dubois County Pride committee,” their statement, posted to Facebook, read. “While the Dubois County Pride committee is disappointed by this development, we are in no way deterred. Our mission to promote and advocate love and equality remains steadfast.”

Dubois County Pride added that “Pride in the Park will continue with food trucks opening at 6 p.m. and a free pool party at 7 p.m.”

“The Troubadours of Divine Bliss will perform from 7 to 8:30. Louisville Turners Circus will roam the park between 7 and 9. During all this, a variety of games will be available including volleyball, cornhole and candy cannon. Stations for face painting, balloon animals and henna tattoos will also be open as will a variety of information booths,” the announcement continued. “The event will concluded with a glow dance party from 9-10:30.”

Timcast has reached out to Dubois County Pride to inquire about if they received any specific threats. We will update this story if more information is provided.
