Viewers noticed actor Hugh Grant appeared apathetic during an interview at the 95th Academy Awards last night.
ABC’s “Countdown to the Oscars” featured former Sports Illustrated model Ashley Graham, who interviewed Grant prior to the awards ceremony. Graham’s questioning appeared relatively standard for the occasion, though viewers noticed Grant appeared uninterested in the conversation.
Graham noted the actor, who has who has been nominated four times in the British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) and won once with 1994’s Four Weddings and a Funeral, as a “veteran.”
“What’s your favorite thing about coming to the Oscars?” the model asked Grant, who hesitated for a moment before replying, “It’s fascinating.”
“The whole of humanity is here, it’s vanity fair,” he continued.
Graham agreed with his “vanity fair” comment saying, “That’s where we let loose and have a little bit of fun.”
“What are you most excited to see tonight?” Graham asked.
Grant repeated the question to Graham, who clarified, “Are you excited to see anyone win? Do you have your hopes up for anyone?”
The actor hesitated again before responding,”Not … no one in particular.”
“Okay, well what are you wearing tonight then?” the model continued.
“Just my suit,” the actor dryly replied.
“Your suit?” Graham pressed. “You didn’t make your [suit], who made it?”
The actor said he couldn’t remember who made his suit before jokingly suggesting his tailor made it.

Graham commended Grant’s tailor before questioning the actor on his experience filming 2022’s Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, which was nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay.
“How fun is it to shoot something like that?” Graham asked, noting she enjoyed the film.
“Well, I’m barely in it,” he responded. “I’m in it for about three-seconds.”
The model pushed Grant by asking if he had fun during the film’s production.
“Almost,” Grant responded with a slight chuckle.
Graham thanked the actor for his time to which Grant responded, “Yeah.”
Viewers noted the roughly minute-long exchange appeared awkward, suggesting “Hugh Grant wants no part of this dumb s—.”
“And the Oscar for the guy who totally doesn’t want to be there goes to Hugh Grant,” said another viewer.
Other viewers suggested the actor was rude during his interview with Graham.
“Hugh Grant is such a d—,” said one user. “The Oscar red carpet pre-show. Why did he agree to be interviewed? A–.”
Another viewer said the actor was “the biggest D bag for [his] interview.”
“Hugh, If you don’t want to be there go home. Worst Oscars interviews ever.”
However, other viewers suggested the interview questions were “stupid.”
“Hugh Grant wasn’t rude like so many people have posted, I don’t think the interviewer or the people who think he was rude know Hugh Grant. Ask a stupid question get a stupid answer.”
“Let Hugh Grant host the Oscars, I am deeply serious,” said another viewer who appeared to enjoy Graham and Grant’s exchange.
