Fox News’ Tammy Bruce suggested ABC’s George Stephanopoulos should “get used to it” after the ABC host said a new poll showing former President Donald Trump tied with President Joe Biden was “shocking.”
Stephanopoulos made his remarks during a Sunday episode of ABC’s This Week with George Stephanopoulos with former Democratic National Committee (DNC) chair Donna Brazile.
“It is kind of shocking in a way that, despite all of the baggage that Donald Trump carries, he’s tied with Joe Biden right now,” Stephanopoulos said, referencing a Saturday poll from the Wall Street Journal, which shows Trump leading 40% compared to Biden’s 39%.
Brazile said the Wall Street Journal poll could “keep [her] up at night.”
“The problem is, and the biggest challenge we face as Democrats,” she said, specifying she was a Democrat, “young black and Latino voters, they’re not ready to come back to the party.”

“They’re not even looking at the so-called messaging that’s being sent to them about the economy, about climate change, about student debt relief,” she continued. “They are worried about their future, and right now they’re looking for a leader who represents their values and their vision.”
Brazile said Biden’s 2024 re-election campaign needs to “go deep” and “go hard to motivate those voters to come back within the Democratic Party coalition.”
“Without them it is a tight race,” she said, adding the election would come down to four states.
Stephanopoulos noted Trump’s support had increased over his four indictments this year.
“Donald Trump seems to be consolidating his control over the Republican Party,” he said.
Bruce responded to the segment in an X post.
“He wouldn’t have been ‘stunned’ if he had taken seriously all the other polls indicating the intense unhappiness of Americans in general,” Bruce wrote Sunday. “Our decline is artificial and Biden’s doing.”

CNN’s Jim Acosta similarly commented on Trump’s indictments, noting the former President was “still tied with Joe Biden.”
“Biden has work to do,” said Larry Sabato, the Director of the Center for Politics at the University of Virginia.
According to the survey, more than 60% of Republican primary voters said Trump’s indictments were politically motivated and lacked merit, along with 78% saying the former President’s response to the 2020 presidential election were legitimate in seeking an accurate vote count. Sixteen percent of respondents said Trump’s attempted to prevent Congress from certifying the 2020 presidential election. Another 59% of Republican primary voters support the former President in his third bid for the White House, up 11 points since the outlet’s April survey.
