New York Mayor Eric Adams advised Donald Trump’s supporters to “control yourselves” leading up to the former president’s upcoming arraignment on Tuesday.
Mayor Adams’ comments come as the former president heads to New York from his home at Mar-a-Lago in Florida following Thursday’s vote to indict.
“There may be some rabble rousers thinking about coming to our city tomorrow,” Adams said during a Monday press conference. “Our message is clear and simple: control yourselves.”
“New York City is our home, not a playground for your misplaced anger.”

“We are the safest largest city in America because we respect the rule of law in New York City,” Adams continued.
Though he conceded no “specific” threats have been made, he noted Georgia representative Marjorie Taylor Greene had previously announced she would be in the city during Trump’s arraignment.
“As always, we will not allow violence or vandalism of any kind, and if anyone is caught participating in any act of violence they will be arrested and held accountable no matter who you are,” Adams said.
Greene announced she would be in New York following the Manhattan grand jury’s decision to indict Trump.
“I’m going to New York on Tuesday,” Greene wrote in a Friday post. “We MUST protest the unconstitutional WITCH HUNT!”
Greene continued in a separate post by telling New York Trump supporters to “put your MAGA hats on.”
“Under our constitutional rights, we WILL support president Trump and protest the tyrants.”

“Protesting is a constitutional right and I am going to NY on Tuesday to protest this unprecedented abuse of our justice system and election interference,” Greene said in a Sunday post. “I also reject any attempt and anyone who dresses in MAGA but incites violence or commits violence while pretending to be one of us.”
“You are not one of us, you are one of them. We will not live in fear and we will lawfully stand against tyranny and corruption while we show our support for President Trump.”

In a March 18 Truth Social post, Trump said he would be arrested on the 21st and called for people to protest and “take our nation back.”
New York district attorney Alvin Bragg previously delayed the grand jury’s vote, informing them to be on standby for Thursday.
Shortly after the Manhattan grand jury’s vote for indictment, Trump responded by calling the decision “Political Persecution and Election Interference at the highest level in history.”
The former president’s attorney, Joe Tacopina, confirmed Trump would surrender to the Manhattan district attorney’s office early this week.
Trump is the first former president to face criminal charges after office.
