Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot, who unveiled a series of new COVID rules and regulations this week after cases of the Omicron variant surged in the Windy City, told unvaccinated residents “your time is up.”
“We didn’t want it to get to this point, but given the situation we find ourselves in, we have no choice. Beginning Jan. 3, you must show proof you are fully vax’d to enter bars, restaurants, fitness centers, and entertainment/recreational venues where food/drink are served,” posted Lightfoot on social media.
To put it simply, if you have been living vaccine-free, your time is up. If you wish to live life as w/the ease to do the things you love, you must be vax'd.
This health order may pose an inconvenience to the unvaccinated, and in fact it is inconvenient by design.

This order will remain in effect until the City deems that the threat of COVID-19 to public health has diminished significantly.

“Hospitalizations in the city are at their highest since our surge last winter. Deaths are at a higher rate than we have seen in months. On top of all this, we can expect a post-holiday surge in cases,” she added. “This order will remain in effect until the City deems that the threat of COVID-19 to public health has diminished significantly.”

Cases of COVID-19 are up 300% in Chicago since early November.
