Republican Rep. Jackie Walorski has died in a car crash in Elkhart County, Indiana.
Three other people were also killed in the head on collision, including her district director Zachery Potts, 27, and her communications director Emma Thomson, 28.
The driver and sole occupant of the other vehicle, Edith Schmucker, 56, was also killed in the crash.
The fatal accident occurred at 12:32 P.M. on State Road 19, south of Wakarusa, in Elkhart County.
“Police say a northbound car crossed the center line… hitting the vehicle Walorski and two others were in,” local station WSBT reports. “Elkhart County 911 dispatch confirms that a medical helicopter had originally been requested to the scene, but that the chopper was not needed.”
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy tweeted a statement about Walorski’s death, asking for people to keep her family in your thoughts and prayers.

The 58-year-old politician has represented Indiana’s 2nd Congressional District since 2013.
The Elkhart County Coroner’s Office and the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the crash, according to the local report.
