Betty White Passes Away 17 Days Before 100th Birthday

American icon and legend Betty White has passed away just 17 days shy of her 100th birthday.

Upon the announcement, people began flocking to social media to note that she passed away on New Year’s Eve — one last kick in the teeth from a year that has been difficult for many.

TMZ reports that White passed away at her home just before 9:30 AM Friday, according to law enforcement sources.

White has been gracing movie and television audiences with her presence since 1939, but is perhaps best known for her role as Rose Nylund in “The Golden Girls,” which aired from 1985 to 1992.

TMZ’s report noted that White has 115 acting credits to her name, including productions like “Life with Elizabeth,” “Date with the Angels,” “The Love Boat,” “Mama’s Family,” “The Golden Palace,” “Ladies Man,” “That ’70s Show,” “Higglytown Heroes,” “Boston Legal,” “The Bold and the Beautiful,” “Pound Puppies,” “Hot in Cleveland,” and many, many, many other shows and films.

White has been honored with 5 Primetime Emmy Awards, Screen Actors Guild Awards, American Comedy Awards and a Grammy.

The beloved actress was gearing up to celebrate her 100th birthday on January 17.

People Magazine recently shot a cover story with White to celebrate the milestone.

A documentary celebrating the big birthday was also set to premiere on the 17th.
