'A Huge Win': Elon Musk Retweets Daily Wire Doc, Encourages Parents To Watch

Matt Walsh: 'What A Great Day To Ring In Pride Month'

Twitter owner Elon Musk retweeted the Daily Wire’s What is a Woman? and encouraged parents to watch the documentary.

The film currently has over 65,000 retweets with over 45 million total views as of Friday afternoon.

“Every parent should watch this,” Musk said in a retweet of the Daily Wire’s post.

“Consenting adults should do whatever makes them happy, provided it does not harm others,” Musk continued in a separate tweet. “But a child is not capable of consent, which is why we have laws protecting minors.”

“Wow. Thank you, Elon,” Walsh said of Musk’s retweet. “We really appreciate it.”

“It was a battle but free speech wins in the end,” Walsh said of the post’s restored visibility. “The film can now be seen and shared by all.”

Fellow Daily Wire host Ben Shapiro also thanked Musk.

“Overnight, visibility limits on the movie have been removed,” he wrote. “Elon continues to work to make good on his pledge to keep Twitter an open platform!”

Walsh elaborated on the incident saying it was a “wild 24 hours.”

“It began with Twitter labeling our film hate speech and completely suppressing it, and ends with all suppression lifted and Elon Musk himself tweeting out the film and urging people to watch.”

“A huge win,” he added.

“Once again, the Left’s efforts to censor and suppress have backfired in spectacular fashion,” Walsh said. “What a great way to ring in Pride Month.”

The film was initially flagged as “hateful conduct” and was unable to be shared, throttling its visibility shortly after the documentary’s posting at 8:13 p.m. EST. The post received over 3,600 retweets and over 7,500 likes before being flagged by Twitter.

The film, presented by the Daily Wire’s Matt Walsh, was scheduled to broadcast free of charge for a period of 24 hours on Twitter to commemorate the documentary’s one-year anniversary.

“That was fast,” Boreing wrote in a Twitter post. “Even after Elon Musk said Twitter’s threat to label What is a Woman? ‘hateful conduct’ and to throttle the film’s reach was a mistake.”

“Twitter did that very thing instantly upon the film going live.”

“It seems someone at Twitter staff chose to censor it anyways less than 20 minutes after it was posted,” wrote filmmaker Robby Starbuck, who noted Musk’s previous confirmation that What is a Woman? would in fact be allowed to stream on the platform. Musk initially referred to the platform’s decision to flag the documentary as a “mistake by many people” at the company.

Nearly an hour after the Daily Wire’s post was flagged and throttled, Musk addressed the incident by noting Twitter would update their system so the conservative media outlet’s followers would see the post in their feed.

On Thursday morning, the Daily Wire’s co-CEO Jeremy Boreing confirmed in a tweet thread the social media outlet had cancelled the originally agreed upon deal due to two instances of “misgendering.”

The instances of “misgendering” include a father referring to his 14-year-old daughter, who identified as a transgender boy, as “her,” along with a store owner who uses the “wrong” pronoun during one interaction with a transgender identifying person.
