83-Year-Old Nancy Pelosi Announces She Will Run for Reelection

Former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has announced that she will be seeking reelection in California’s 11th Congressional District.

The 83-year-old congresswoman announced her intent to run on Friday.

“Now more than ever our City needs us to advance San Francisco values and further our recovery. Our country needs America to show the world that our flag is still there, with liberty and justice for ALL. That is why I am running for reelection — and respectfully ask for your vote. -Nancy,” Pelosi wrote on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

Pelosi has served in Congress for more than 35 years and has often been used as an example by those who believe there should be term limits for politicians.

The San Francisco politician was first elected as Speaker of the House in 2007, serving in the position again in 2019. She was the first woman to ever hold the position.

In 2022, Pelosi stepped down from Democratic Party leadership but continued to serve in Congress.

Pelosi’s husband Paul was arrested on May 28, 2022, after a car crash that California Highway Patrol officers said he caused due to being drunk.

Paul Pelosi was also attacked in his home by an intruder in October 2022.
